China plane crash kills 43

Henan Airlines jetA Henan Airlines passenger jet carrying 91 passengers and five crew members crashed on 24 August, leaving 43 people dead and injuring a further 53 others. The plane crashed in a grassy area near Lindu Airport on the outskirts of Yichun around an hour after taking off from Harbin, according to state news agency Xinhua. Footage from China Central Television showed firefighters dousing the wreckage of the burning aircraft and later digging through what was left of the plane to recover the remains of those who perished. Within hours of the disaster happening, 43 bodies were recovered, and 53 people were taken to hospital, most of whom had broken bones, although three were known to be in a serious condition.
