Hurricane hits holidays

Hurricane Earl (Courtesy National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association)As Hurricane Earl, the second named hurricane of the year, makes its way through the Caribbean Sea, the first bad weather holiday casualties are being reported. At least seven cruises and several flights have been diverted as a result of the hurricane hitting the north-eastern part of the Caribbean. Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines all had to re-route ships that were heading towards the path of the storm, while American Airlines has had to re-schedule some of its flights to islands in the Caribbean.
Damage from Hurricane Earl has so far been confined to toppled trees and some flooding. There have yet to be any confirmed reports of casualties.
